5All things to all people  Jun 26, 2011
By Lynn A Detwiler
The reviews for this product seem to be contradictory, so I thought I'd try to add a little clarification. And let me state for the record that I am not a medical professional of any kind. This is just my own experience.

The literature I have found on L-Tyrosine indicates that it supports your thyroid. Your thyroid makes hormones that control just about everything else in your body. So, if you're not sleeping, sleeping too much, depressed, anxious, whatever, L-Tyrosine may be able to help.

In my case, I have had terrible problems with depression and lethargy for my entire life. I would be fine one minute, and weeping uncontrollably the next. Sometimes I would sleep for 14-16 hours straight. Sometimes I couldn't sleep at all. I also had unpredictable asthma attacks and occasional paralyzing anxiety. Obviously, something was wrong, but I've been tested for everything under the sun. Other than allergies to trees and grass, no doctor has ever been able to find anything "treatable." And I have to say that being on antidepressants was worse for me than the depression itself.

Then a "health food nut" at work suggested I try L-Tyrosine. The cliche "it changed my life" doesn't even begin to cover it. I have energy now. I sleep better, but only 8 hours or so at at time. My mood swings are gone. I haven't had an asthma attack in years, and even my allergy symptoms are less severe. I've lost weight. My menstrual cycle has evened out. I've become more productive in my hobbies, and I've missed a lot less work. All of this happened after I started taking just 500mg of L-Tyrosine a day. And I know it's not the placebo effect where something works only because you think it will. If I forget a dose, everything goes downhill in a big hurry! I've been taking that same dose for more than 7 years, and it's just as effective today as it was after the first week.

I don't know that everyone will have the same dramatic results, but I have friends and family with similar stories. Somehow this stuff just works better than anyone could imagine, and I haven't found a single bad side effect either in my experience or in the literature. And, best of all, it's a lot cheaper than just about anything else you can get to treat all the problems I've had. I recommend L-Tyrosine to absolutely everyone I know, and this brand, NOW L-Tyrosine, is the one I've found to be most effective.

5This is a secret.  Sep 16, 2009
By David Liverman
Anybody that has trouble with anxiety should know about this. You know who you are and the problems this can cause in your life.

This product is a sleep/dream enhancer. Say goodbye to light, erractic sleep.
It also takes me down a notch during the day. It also helps with terrible panic attacks.
I take the pill twice a day. The doctor does not believe me but that is his problem.

Hope this is of help.

5A HUGE help  Dec 30, 2010
By Lis
I read about the benefits of L-Tyrosine in a book about depression. With the type of depression I'm experiencing this was a recommended natural treatment so I thought I would give it a try. I started at 3 capsules a day for the first few days and found that even from the first day onwards I was feeling a lot better, and I wasn't expecting that at all as I was sure it would take a while to make a difference.
I have started cutting back to one capsule a day and this has been more than enough. I have still had the occasional bad days where I'm feeling down but it's not as intense a low as before, and even my fiancé can notice the difference in how I've been since I started taking L-Tyrosine.
I'm feeling really great, and highly recommend this product - but only if it is beneficial for the type of depression or medical condition you have. Don't take this without finding out if it's right for you first.

4my libido is back!  Nov 30, 2010
By nicole
I take meds for anxiety and depression. That pretty much depletes any sex drive and guarantees weight gain. I have more energy, better mood, libido is way up and a bit of a curbed appetite since taking l-tyrosine 500mg a day for a month. Go for it!

5Excellent Product  Jun 13, 2011
By Elizabeth
I love this product and I take one 500 mg tablet every morning very early, it helps me sleep better, I wake up refreshed and wide awake and it is a great anti-depressant in general as well.. highly recommended but I would not take more than 500 mg per day.
